Gwen Leaffe Carr

Gwen Leaffe Carr is a seasoned political strategist and consultant with over 20 years of experience leading initiatives in political consulting, economic development, community development, and social activism. As the CEO of Native Sourcing, based in Chicago, Illinois, Gwen directs a diverse portfolio of clients spanning federal, state, local, and tribal governments, nonprofit organizations, and private sector partners. Gwen began their distinguished career in intergovernmental affairs at the White House, gaining invaluable experience in federal policy and cross-government collaboration. She made history as the first Native Political Director at the Democratic National Committee (DNC), where she also founded the DNC Native Caucus to elevate Native American voices within the party and national political discourse. Demonstrating groundbreaking leadership, Gwen was the first Native woman to serve as Executive Director of the Arizona Democratic Party, spearheading voter engagement, candidate development, and grassroots mobilization. Throughout her career, she has worked closely with governors, elected officials at the federal, state, local levels, and tribal levels, providing expert guidance on political strategy, public policy, and community outreach. As CEO of Native Sourcing, Ms. Leaffe Carr specializes in nonprofit and organizational development, fundraising, business and economic development, strategic communications, and senior election strategies. Her work is characterized by a culturally responsive and equity-focused approach, committed to empowering communities and fostering sustainable, inclusive growth. She also helps candidates wins elections and encourages Native people to run for office! Gwen is also host of the new podcast NATIVE GOUND which focuses on political, social and contemporary issues facing Indigenous people. She is recognized for their visionary leadership and dedication to amplifying underrepresented voices in political and community arenas, ensuring equitable participation and representation across diverse constituencies. In addition to her consulting and political work, Gwen Leaffe Carr is a professional singer and songwriter. She has performed at jazz clubs and events across the country.
